Short Bis of the Pastor

​

Rev. Louis Hudson, lll is a native of Halls, Tennessee, the son of the late Mr. Louis Hudson Jr. and Mrs. Edna A. Hudson. Pastor Hudson was raised in a Christ-centered home, where Sunday School and church attendance were standing orders, He was educated in the Lauderdale County school system. He accepted his ministerial calling at an early age and has more than forty years of professional pastoral service to the faith community. With humble pride and grateful joy, Pastor Hudson accepted the call to First Baptist Church on December 2010. Pastor Hudson graduated Lane College cum laude in 1983, receiving B.A. degree in History. He also holds a Master of Education (MEd) degree from Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. Perceiving the challenges of ministry in the 21" Century and his on-going commitment to scholarship and the life of the mind, he continued graduate studies at Memphis Theological Seminar, receiving a Master of Divinity (M. Div) degree. With a passion for teaching and an understanding of the importance of life-long learning Pastor Hudson acquired doctorate candidacy, Ed D. (ABD) at Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Before coming to serve in the historic ranks of a leading congregation at First Baptist Church, Rev. Hudson distinguished himself as an effective servant leader and pastor in two major Afro-American denominations, National Baptist Convention USA, Inc, (NBC) and Christian Methodist Episcopal Church CME). As a pastor, Rev. Hudson sees the whole community as his parish. He was blessed to serve and train with some of the most amazing people and loving congregations throughout West Tennessee. His most recent and longest pastoral tenure at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Dyersburg, Tennessee provided the loving, spiritual nurturing and development needed to grow into an authentic Christian servant leader. As a Christian educator, he has served at K-12 public school and higher education levels as a transformational teacher. He is married to the former Norma Louise Harrell of Ripley, and they have shared thirty-six years of the Lord's favor together. They are parents of four children, Christopher, Marlon, Jonathan, and Brittany. They have been blessed with five grandchildren, Brianna, Jaylen, Cameron, Jay Louis, and Christian.
